Article Having Impact Resistant Surface

View page
US Patent:
20080311341, Dec 18, 2008
Filed:
Jun 5, 2008
Appl. No.:
12/133713
Inventors:
Chul S. Lee - Northville MI, US
Ankur M. Bhosale - Canton MI, US
Randy Fleck - Nazareth PA, US
International Classification:
B32B 1/04
US Classification:
428119
Abstract:
An article manufactured from a polymer filled with fibers includes a plurality of ribs orientated and configured in a unique manner to improve resistance to an impact from an object. The ribs extend from a planar portion of the article. A fillet interconnects the ribs and the planar portion and includes a fillet radius of at least 0.75 mm. The fibers of the polymer are aligned within the article parallel to a flow of the polymer when injected into a mold during a molding process. The ribs are oriented in a pattern relative to the aligned fibers to maximize the impact resistance of the article.

Method Of Overmolding A Polymeric Material Onto A Microcellular Polyurethane And An Article Made Therefrom

View page
US Patent:
20160016342, Jan 21, 2016
Filed:
Mar 5, 2014
Appl. No.:
14/773500
Inventors:
- Ludwigshafen, DE
Ankur Bhosale - Canton MI, US
Anand Huprikar - Novi MI, US
International Classification:
B29C 45/14
B60G 11/22
Abstract:
An article is made by a method comprising the step of providing a substrate comprising a microcellular polyurethane. The method also includes the steps of placing the substrate into a mold and injecting a polymeric material into the mold and over a receiving surface of the substrate to form the overmolded element coupled to the substrate thereby making the article. The article is released from the mold.

US Patent:
20140209412, Jul 31, 2014
Filed:
Aug 24, 2012
Appl. No.:
14/241491
Inventors:
Peter A. Zorney - Plymouth MI, US
William J. McMaster - Berkeley Heights NJ, US
Ankur Bhosale - Canton MI, US
Assignee:
BASF SE - Lugwigshafen
International Classification:
E06C 7/08
US Classification:
1821801, 182217
Abstract:
A ladder including a first stringer and a second stringer spaced transverse from each other is provided. Each of the first and second stringers defines a channel and includes a plurality of crosspieces disposed in the channels of the first and second stringers. A plurality of rungs are spaced along and coupled between the first and second stringers. Each of the rungs has a horizontal portion and a vertical portion extending from the first stringer to the second stringer. A plurality of ribs are spaced along and coupled between the horizontal and vertical portions of the rungs.
