The present invention provides for a programmable processor in a Ophthalmic Lens Storage Unit capable of storing and disinfecting ophthalmic lenses. A base unit and/or storage case can include sensors for providing data and a digital storage for storing the data and using it via executable software for lens monitoring and automated lens ordering.
