View page
US Patent:
52587398, Nov 2, 1993
Filed:
Apr 11, 1991
Appl. No.:
7/684475
Inventors:
Joan S. DeLuca - Boca Raton FL
Amy Kabcenell - Highland Beach FL
Michael J. DeLuca - Boca Raton FL
Assignee:
Motorola, Inc. - Schaumburg IL
International Classification:
G08B 522
US Classification:
34082544
Abstract:
A selective call receiver (10) for receiving a radio frequency message having message characters includes a memory (14) for storing information including predetermined message characters and processing circuitry (13) for determining an amount of available space within the memory (14) in response to reception of a message. When the available space within the memory (14) is insufficient for storage of the message characters included within the received message, one or more of the message characters included within the received message is deleted prior to storing the received message. Alternatively, one or more message characters included within a previously stored message may be deleted prior to storing the received message.

View page
US Patent:
52587517, Nov 2, 1993
Filed:
Nov 4, 1991
Appl. No.:
7/787463
Inventors:
Joan S. DeLuca - Boca Raton FL
Amy R. Kabcenell - Highland Beach FL
Richard E. Johnson - Boynton Beach FL
Assignee:
Motorola, Inc. - Schaumburg IL
International Classification:
G08B 522
US Classification:
34082544
Abstract:
A selective call receiver (200) is capable of receiving messages and storing the messages for subsequent retrieval by a user. The selective call receiver (200) assigns a status designation (706) and a chronological order (704) to each stored message, and further prioritizes the messages in a sequential order being prioritized first by a priority of the status designation (706) assigned to the messages and then further prioritized therewithin according to the chronological order (704) assigned to the messages. The selective call receiver (200) then presents the messages to the user in the sequential order for the messages.

US Patent:
50105477, Apr 23, 1991
Filed:
Jul 10, 1989
Appl. No.:
7/377649
Inventors:
Richard E. Johnson - Lake Worth FL
Amy R. Kabcenell - Highland Beach FL
Joan S. DeLuca - Boca Raton FL
Assignee:
Motorola, Inc. - Schaumburg IL
International Classification:
H04J 326
US Classification:
370 941
Abstract:
A method is described for transmitting a plurality of messages within a single transmission having one address to a selective call receiver. An identification packet preceding each message determines the slot in which the message is stored. The packet may also move a message from one slot to another.

View page
US Patent:
51736888, Dec 22, 1992
Filed:
Aug 19, 1991
Appl. No.:
7/747403
Inventors:
Joan S. DeLuca - Boca Raton FL
Amy R. Kabcenell - Highland Beach FL
John Schwendeman - Pompano Beach FL
Assignee:
Motorola, Inc. - Schaumburg IL
International Classification:
H04B 700
US Classification:
34082544
Abstract:
A selective call receiver, such as a pager, stores an incoming message without interrupting the operation of the receiver. One set of data items displayed on a display of the receiver is updated independent of another set of data items. The updating function allows for the display of display formats such as forms and tables, wherein only the information needed to fill in the table is transmitted, the header information being retained from one update to the next.
