Abstract:

Video or media content is transferred to a local video or media server by a system administrator or central content programmer. Client data processing modules, i. e. , client machines, are configured to query for local content associated with a particular file and stream names. The local search replaces the original stream name with a stream name associated with a local area network. The modified configuration file of the client machines provisionally substitutes a local stream name for the original stream name linked to the central media server. If a local query script searching for selected content locally, results in an error response indicating the requested content is unavailable locally, then the provisional stream name is deleted and replaced with the original stream name. The original stream request for selected content, which was made to the central media or video server is accordingly implemented as a fallback.

Abstract:

The present invention provides a transform coding method efficient for music signals that is suitable for use in a hybrid codec, whereby a common Linear Predictive (LP) synthesis filter is employed for both speech and music signals. The LP synthesis filter switches between a speech excitation generator and a transform excitation generator, in accordance with the coding of a speech or music signal, respectively. For coding speech signals, the conventional CELP technique may be used, while a novel asymmetrical overlap-add transform technique is applied for coding music signals. In performing the common LP synthesis filtering, interpolation of the LP coefficients is conducted for signals in overlap-add operation regions. The invention enables smooth transitions when the decoder switches between speech and music decoding modes.

Abstract:

A connector is disclosed that includes one or more pins allowing power to be provided to a connector board attached externally to the television set. In one embodiment, the connector has one or more USB pins to allow serial communication between the television set and the connector board. In another embodiment, the connector has one or more pins to allow communication of television setup information to the connector board. In yet another embodiment, the connector board may use the setup information provided from the television to perform audio processing and deliver enhanced audio sound to the speaker system associated with the television. The connector board may also wirelessly communicate with a personal computer, thereby coupling the personal computer to the television set.
