Liner/Mandrel For Filament Wound Vessels

View page
US Patent:
51511452, Sep 29, 1992
Filed:
Jan 2, 1990
Appl. No.:
7/456589
Inventors:
Alvin R. Cederberg - Lincoln NE
International Classification:
B32B 500
US Classification:
156172
Abstract:
A liner for a rocket motor case or other filament wound vessel includes a relatively thin casing. Reinforcements are formed integrally with the interior of the casing whereby the liner can be used as a mandrel for filament winding or applying composite material to the rocket motor case or other vessel. Interfacing is formed integrally with the interior of the casing for positioning and restraining propellant, hardware or other components within the liner.

Pressure Vessel With Damage Mitigating System

View page
US Patent:
54761891, Dec 19, 1995
Filed:
Dec 3, 1993
Appl. No.:
8/161919
Inventors:
Paul F. Duvall - Lincoln NE
Alvin R. Cederberg - Lincoln NE
International Classification:
F17C 106
US Classification:
220590
Abstract:
A pressure vessel is disclosed for holding fluids and the like. The vessel includes an outer shell fabricated of a composite material. A damage mitigating material is integrated within the outer shell, with a major thickness of the shell being disposed inside the damage mitigating material and a minor thickness of the shell being disposed outside the damage mitigating material. The minor thickness of the shell and the damage mitigating material are physically alterable or deformable upon impact by a given exterior force which may be insufficient to affect the major thickness of the shell.

Pressure Vessel With System To Prevent Liner Separation

View page
US Patent:
55181414, May 21, 1996
Filed:
Jan 24, 1994
Appl. No.:
8/186443
Inventors:
Norman L. Newhouse - Lincoln NE
Alvin R. Cederberg - Lincoln NE
International Classification:
F17C 106
US Classification:
220586
Abstract:
A pressure vessel is disclosed for holding fluids. The vessel includes a generally cylindrical outer shell fabricated of a substantially rigid, mechanically strong material, and having a generally hemispherical end section with an opening therein. An inner, generally fluid impervious flexible liner is disposed in the outer shell against the inside surface thereof. The liner has a generally hemispherical end section with an opening aligned with the opening in the outer shell. A boss has a neck portion for fitting in the opening in the outer shell. A generally hemispherical extension projects radially outwardly of the boss substantially entirely to the cylindrical configuration of the outer shell against the inside surface of the inner liner to prevent the generally hemispherical end section of the liner from pulling away from the outer shell.
