Abstract:
A communication session support infrastructure comprises a networked packet based connection unit or gateway. The gateway includes a packet data interfacing unit for converting between protocols used by a plurality of current connecting devices in a session and a packet-based protocol so that different kinds of communication devices can connect to the session although internal session management is carried out using IP type protocols. The connection unit includes a one-to-many packet routing unit which receives packets through the interfacing unit from one of the current connecting devices in a session and routes the packets back to the interfacing unit for forwarding to each of the other current connecting devices in the session.

View page
US Patent:
20140179314, Jun 26, 2014
Filed:
Dec 26, 2012
Appl. No.:
13/727123
Inventors:
- Basking Ridge NJ, US
Alexander TIRASPOLSKY - Newton MA, US
Assignee:
CELLCO PARTNERSHIP D/B/A VERIZON WIRELESS - Basking Ridge NJ
International Classification:
H04W 60/00
US Classification:
4554351
Abstract:
Systems and techniques are provided for registering similar subscriber devices in a communication network. A unique Private Identity (PRID) is generated for several user devices associated together under one user account for service through the communication network. The PRID includes a group indicator identifying the PRID's association with a group of devices subject to a common service profile, a Public Identity (PUID) string of characters that uniquely identifies the one user account, and a device identifier uniquely assigned to identify the respective device within the group under the one user account. One common PRID is generated for identifying the common service profile with respect to all of the devices of the group under the one user account. The common PRID includes the group indicator, the PUID, and a wildcard in a field of the predetermined format for a device identifier.
