A protective enclosure fabricated from a clear, flexible, plastic material that, in the event of an emergency, is easily positionable over at least the head of a wearer to protect the wearer from the adverse effects of a contaminated environment, such as that filled with smoke or similar noxious fumes. Hence, a relatively low cost, reliable, and easily operable protective enclosure is provided that can be folded and conveniently placed in a pouch for either storage or distribution, such as to the occupants of a high-rise building or to passengers of an airplane for use in the event of fire, or similar catastrophe.
