Abstract:
A suturing device suitable for anastomosis procedures. The suturing device includes a suture guid and a needle holder. The suture guide includes a foot portion having an axis defined along a length of the foot portion. The foot portion includes a plurality of apertures, each aperture holding a suture. The needle holder movably holds at least one needle relative to a first side of the foot portion and movably holds at least one needle relative to a second side of the foot portion. The needles are movable into respective apertures, and the at least one needle on the first side of the foot portion is at an angle relative to the at least one needle on the second side of the foot portion.

Abstract:
The present invention provides devices, systems and methods for anchoring medical devices to hard tissues, such as bones or bony structures, particularly vertebrae. By anchoring these medical devices directly to the surrounding hard tissue, the devices are anchored closer to the source of treatment. This provides additional stability and reduces migration of the device at the treatment site. Also, by attaching to hard tissue rather than soft tissue, a stronger attachment is often able to be made.

Abstract:
Devices and methods are provided for securing leaflets of a cardiac valve together. The subject devices include an assembly having a fastener, means for temporarily securing the fastener to the leaflets and means for permanently securing the fastener to the leaflets and means for anchoring the fastener to the heart wall. The subject methods are characterized by temporarily grasping the leaflets of a valve together at an apposition point, assessing at least one of blood flow and pressure gradient across said valve, determining whether to permanently secure the valve leaflets at said selected apposition point based upon at least one of the measured blood flow and pressure gradient, and performing one of permanently attaching the leaflets together at the apposition site or releasing the grasped leaflets. Also included are assemblies which include a subject device and a delivery device and may include a pressure monitoring member and/or a flow monitoring member. Kits which include the subject devices are also provided.

Abstract:
A method of suturing patient tissue together is provided. The method comprises positioning a suture placement device adjacent patient tissue, the suture placement device having a body and a suture holder releasably attached on the body the method further comprises actuating the suture placement device, causing the suture placement device to pass an end portion of at least one suture element through patient tissue in response to actuating the suture placement device and causing the end portion of the at least one suture element to be held on the suture holder of the device after the end portion has been passed through the patient tissue. The method further comprises detaching the suture holder from the body of the device while the end portion of the at least one suture element is held thereon. A suture placement device and a suture placement system which can be used in the method of the invention are also provided.

Abstract:
Devices, systems and methods are provided for stimulating a target tissue, particularly a dorsal root ganglion. The devices and systems have one or more electrodes, wherein the electrodes are positionable in disperse locations within the specific target area. In some embodiments, the position of at least some of the electrodes is adjustable and optionally independently positionable. Some or all of the electrodes may be used to stimulate the desired tissue, such as to stimulate a specific portion of the target area. Or, the one or more electrodes that fall near the target tissue may be used to stimulate the tissue while the other electrodes are not used. When stimulating the dorsal root ganglion, sensory pain signals are blocked providing relief to the patient.

Abstract:
Devices, systems and methods for treating pain or other conditions while minimizing possible complications and side effects. Treatment typically includes electrical stimulation and/or delivery of pharmacological or other agents with the use of a lead or catheter. The devices, systems and methods provide improved anchoring which reduces migration of the lead yet allows for easy repositioning or removal of the lead if desired. The devices, systems and methods also provide for simultaneous treatment of multiple targeted anatomies. This shortens procedure time and allows for less access points, such as needle sticks to the epidural space, which in turn reduces complications, such as cerebral spinal fluid leaks, patient soreness and recovery time. Other possible complications related to the placement of multiple devices are also reduced.
