System And Method For Using A Single Intelligence Circuit For A Plurality Of Imaging Rendering Components

View page
US Patent:
6738090, May 18, 2004
Filed:
Apr 3, 1998
Appl. No.:
09/054770
Inventors:
Young No - Pittsford NY
Timothy F. Donahue - Mendon NY
Keith A. Hadley - Rochester NY
Christopher Rueby - North Chili NY
Alan J. Swire - Pittsford NY
Assignee:
Eastman Kodak Company - Rochester NY
International Classification:
H04N 5225
US Classification:
34820711, 3482072
Abstract:
An electronic imaging system and method are provided that include an image capturing component, such as a digital camera, an image rendering component, such as a printer, digital projector, video screen, etc. , each of which requires an intelligence circuit for operation, and an intelligence module detachably connectable to either of the imaging components for providing the required control circuit. The intelligence module includes a microprocessor and memory, and each of the image capturing and rendering components of the system includes a memory for storing operating instructions. The intelligence module downloads the operating instructions of the particular imaging component it is connected to in order to operate the same. The use of a single control module to operate a broad spectrum of digital imaging components advantageously simplifies the circuitry of the components, reduces manufacturing costs, and enhances reliability by minimizing processing steps and circuit interfaces.

Printer Driver Caching Architecture

View page
US Patent:
20130141739, Jun 6, 2013
Filed:
Dec 6, 2011
Appl. No.:
13/312658
Inventors:
Alan Jay Swire - Pittsford NY, US
International Classification:
G06K 15/02
US Classification:
358 14, 358 115
Abstract:
A printing system with a printer having a pair of printheads for printing on opposite sides of a receiver media. A host computer connected to the printer controls a page printing sequence in the printer and has a renderer for generating first page data to be printed. A language monitor determines that second page data is to be printed before the first page data, and so it delays sending a print command to the printer until the second page data is rendered. Then the language monitor sends a print command to the printer with the second page data before sending the first page data.

US Patent:
20130141757, Jun 6, 2013
Filed:
Dec 6, 2011
Appl. No.:
13/312700
Inventors:
Alan Jay Swire - Pittsford NY, US
International Classification:
G06K 15/02
US Classification:
358 115
Abstract:
A method wherein image data is generated for a logical first page of a print job and for a logical second page of the print job. These are stored for later access. The position of a receiver media in a printer is determined with respect to one of two printheads. A print job is started in duplex format using either printhead, including printing the logical second page of the print job before printing the logical first page of the print job, as necessary.

Working Storage Management In Medical Imaging Systems

View page
US Patent:
55220673, May 28, 1996
Filed:
Jun 2, 1995
Appl. No.:
8/459607
Inventors:
Alan J. Swire - West Henrietta NY
Assignee:
Eastman Kodak Company - Rochester NY
International Classification:
G06F 1500
G06F 300
US Classification:
395600
Abstract:
Apparatus manages short term working storage memory in data processing systems such as medical imaging systems. The working storage has a predetermined full storage capacity, a preselected high water mark storage capacity and a preselected low water mark storage capacity. A control monitors the current storage capacity of the working storage such that if the current storage capacity is greater than or equal to the high water mark, the control deletes digital images having designated status characteristics from working storage until the low water mark is reached.
