View page
US Patent:
20210013580, Jan 14, 2021
Filed:
Jul 12, 2019
Appl. No.:
16/510083
Inventors:
- Arlington VA, US
Alan Scott Brannon - Denver CO, US
International Classification:
H01P 11/00
B23K 26/03
H01P 1/20
Abstract:
The present application describes a method of tuning a printed device. The method includes measuring a frequency response of a target device and a device under tune (DUT). The method includes computing, based on the measured frequency response, a coupling matrix for the target device and a coupling matrix for the DUT. The method also includes extracting eigenvalues for the coupling matrix of the target device and a first set of eigenvalues for the coupling matrix of the DUT. The eigenvalues of the target device are different than the first set of eigenvalues of the DUT. The method further includes tuning the DUT with a material removal source. The method even further includes measuring a second set of eigenvalues of the DUT. The second set of eigenvalues is different from the first set of eigenvalues of the DUT. The method yet even further includes calculating a tune path for iterative convergence of the second or a subsequent set of eigenvalues of the DUT with the eigenvalues of the target device. The method still even further includes observing the iterative convergence of the DUT and the target device.

Sep 29, 2017
Appl. No.:
15/720266
Inventors:
- HERNDON VA, US
ALAN SCOTT BRANNON - DENVER CO, US
REBECCA JOYCE AMPARAN - LONGMONT CO, US
SCOTT W. BURGESS - ALBUQUERQUE NM, US
International Classification:
H01P 1/205
Abstract:
The application at least describes a tuning and measurement fixture. The fixture comprises a bottom plate including side surfaces, a top surface and a bottom surface. The bottom plate includes a window extending between the top and bottom surfaces. The window can expose a through-hole of a filter positioned in the fixture. In addition, the top surface of the filter includes a signal connection and a ground connection configured to communicate with the filter. The bottom surface of the filter includes an RF port configured to transmit electrical characteristics of the filter. A top plate of the filter includes a top and a bottom surface. The top plate is separated from the bottom plate by a predetermined height. The top plate includes a window extending between the top and bottom surfaces. The window exposes the through-hole of the filter held in the fixture. The application also describes a method of tuning and measuring a filter in a fixture.

Systems And Methods Of Designing, Tuning And Producing Ceramic Filters

US Patent:
20180131069, May 10, 2018
Filed:
Oct 30, 2017
Appl. No.:
15/797582
Inventors:
- HERNDON VA, US
ALAN SCOTT BRANNON - DENVER CO, US
International Classification:
H01P 11/00
H01P 1/201
Abstract:
The present applications at least describes a method of making a tuned ceramic filter. The method includes printing an oversized pattern of ceramic material on a ceramic filter. The method also include removing, at a first tune location of the ceramic filter, a first amount of the ceramic material using a laser to shrink the oversized pattern. The method also includes comparing a coupling matrix of the ceramic filter after the removing step with a coupling matrix of a prototype of the ceramic filter. The method includes a step of generating a tune vector based upon a difference between the coupling matrix of the ceramic filter and the coupling matrix of the prototype filter. Further, the method includes a step of iteratively modifying the removing of the ceramic material using femto-second laser at the first tune location to have a coefficient of the tune vector corresponding to the first tune location to converge toward zero.

US Patent:
20180115035, Apr 26, 2018
Filed:
Oct 17, 2017
Appl. No.:
15/786311
Inventors:
- HERNDON VA, US
Alan Scott Brannon - DENVER CO, US
International Classification:
H01P 1/205
H01P 7/10
H01P 1/213
H05K 1/02
Abstract:
The present application is directed to an enclosure for hermetically sealing ceramic filters. The enclosure includes a container body with a hollow cavity for receiving electronic components. A container lid is hermetically sealed to the body to maintain a controlled environment. A connector allows for communicating between the electronic components received within the enclosure and other electronic components located outside the enclosure. The enclosure also includes a filter having a block of dielectric material with a top surface including a patterned region, a bottom surface, and side surfaces. A through-hole extends through the block from the top surface to the bottom surface. The through-hole is partially surrounded by the patterned region. A wall extends from the top surface, and has an inner surface, an outer surface, and a roof. The application is also directed to a system including a printed circuit board and a filter provided in the enclosure.

Self-Interference Cancellation Antenna Systems And Methods

View page
US Patent:
20170222733, Aug 3, 2017
Filed:
Apr 19, 2017
Appl. No.:
15/491459
Inventors:
- HERNDON VA, US
ALAN SCOTT BRANNON - DENVER CO, US
RILEY NELSON PACK - BROOMFIELD CO, US
International Classification:
H04B 15/00
H04L 5/14
H04B 1/10
H04B 1/00
H04B 1/04
Abstract:
The present application describes systems and methods of performing self-interference cancellation. According to an embodiment, the method sends a transmit signal through a circulator to substantially isolate the transmit signal from a receiver, with at least a portion of the transmit signal entering a receive path towards the receiver. The method also generates a reflected signal from an antenna. The reflected signal is at substantially less power than an incident power to the antenna. The reflected signal includes a transmitter carrier signal and a transmitter noise. The method also routes a received signal from the antenna to the receiver, and routes the reflected signal through a phase shifter in the receive path. Further, the method combines the reflected, phase shifted transmitter noise with the received signal in the receive path to cancel the portion of the transmit signal that entered the receive path towards the receiver.
