B23P 17/04
US Classification:
604192, 29428
Abstract:
A pen needle includes a hub having a first opening at a first end and a second opening at a second end. A needle is connected to the hub and extends through the first opening at the first end. Access to the needle through the second opening is prevented by a sterility barrier, which has a movable portion that is moved along a longitudinal axis of the needle to provide access to the needle. A storage container includes a housing having a plurality of cavities to receive a plurality of pen needles. A cover is rotatably connected to the housing and is rotated such that an access portion thereof is aligned with one of the cavities, thereby providing access to the pen needle in the cavity.

Needle Dispensing And Storing Apparatus For Medicament Delivery Device

US Patent:
20120041390, Feb 16, 2012
Filed:
Aug 5, 2011
Appl. No.:
13/204632
Inventors:
Ira Spool - Newton MA, US
Cole Constantineau - Cambridge MA, US
Ryan Schoonmaker - San Marcos CA, US
Sean P. Sullivan - Ridgewood NJ, US
Abhijitsinh Raj - Parsippany NJ, US
Michel Bruehwiler - Newton MA, US
International Classification:
A61M 5/32
A61M 5/34
US Classification:
604240, 604187
Abstract:
A flip-open multi-pack assembly is provided which can contain a plurality of new pen needles, such as through the provision of a rectangular or tube-shaped shaped, hinged shell housing, wherein new pen needles can be stored in a plurality of user accessible openings each having a sterility barrier formed, for example, by covers that cover the non-patient end of the openings in which the new pen needles are contained. Used pen needles can be returned and stored in openings accessible by rotatably opening the shell housing. One or more of the openings within first and second opposite ends of the housing shell can be provided with a slidable internal holder within the device and are configured to releasably secure the inner shield of the new pen needle, and to then be pulled forward when the new pen needle is removed and lock at a forward position, and thereby create an interior space, accessible from an opposite end when the hinged housing is opened, for a used pen needle to be inserted and stored.

Pen Needle Assembly For Preventing Under-Torquing And Over-Torquing Of Pen Needle

View page
US Patent:
20090069753, Mar 12, 2009
Filed:
Sep 5, 2008
Appl. No.:
12/205717
Inventors:
Tieming Ruan - Randolph NJ, US
Abhijitsinh S. Raj - Parsippany NJ, US
Joshua David Horvath - Sparta NJ, US
Adam Gold - New York NY, US
Assignee:
BECTON, DICKINSON AND COMPANY - Franklin Lakes NJ
International Classification:
A61M 5/32
US Classification:
604192
Abstract:
A pen needle hub and cover for a pen needle assembly that provides tactile and/or audible indicia of proper attachment between the hub of the pen needle and the pen is provided. Such indicia substantially prevent under- and over-torquing of the pen needle. The tactile indicia may include a user sensing a wave of a torque of peak value followed by a torque of lesser value.

Pen Needle Assembly Outer Cover Having A Breakaway Flange

View page
US Patent:
20090069752, Mar 12, 2009
Filed:
Sep 5, 2008
Appl. No.:
12/205699
Inventors:
Abhijitsinh S. Raj - Parsippany NJ, US
Joshua David Horvath - Sparta NJ, US
Assignee:
BECTON, DICKINSON AND COMPANY - Franklin Lakes NJ
International Classification:
A61M 5/32
US Classification:
604192
Abstract:
An outer needle cover for a pen needle assembly is provided with a breakaway flange. Prior to use, the flange is connected to a body of the outer cover. The flange has a reduced cross sectional thickness portion that facilitates separation of the flange from the outer cover, thereby reducing the outer diameter of the outer cover. The reduced outer diameter of the outer cover allows the outer cover to be received by a pen cap of an existing injector device.
