A multiplayer chess apparatus and method of play is disclosed. The apparatus consists of 108 hexagon-shaped tiles and 54 tokens. The tiles are arranged to create a field of play with the shape of a 6-tile by 7-tile hexagon. The tokens are placed on the tiles in three sets, one for each of three players. The tokens represent standard chess pieces on one side, and the reverse sides represent variant chess pieces. During play, according to the method of play, tokens can be moved, stacked, unstacked, or removed from play. Tiles can also be removed from play. The shape of the field of play, the use of tokens for chess pieces, and the method of play facilitate resolution of the petty diplomacy problem in chess. The apparatus can be adapted for use by more than three players.

A system for providing an activity-centric collaboration space provides representations of the tasks that the team has planned, is engaged in, and has completed as a means of enhancing cross-team awareness and coordination. The system enables a user to explicitly indicate what task she is currently engaged in on behalf of the team, and makes this current task information available to other team members. A “tasks” view user interface component provides a shared view of all ongoing, planned, and completed tasks for a team. Information about team members' task assignments, and the ability to monitor team members' current tasks, may be used to manage potential interruptions caused by requests for instant messaging sessions and the like. Team members can explicitly establish interruption management policies indicating how task assignments and current tasks should be used to determine whether a communication attempt should be blocked or forwarded to a team member. Team space resources that are most important to an individual team member may also be identified, and changes made to those resources made more visually apparent and/or readily available to that user than changes to artifacts with which they are less concerned. Personalized differential awareness user interface representations may also be provided, and the associations that tasks establish between resources and team members also enables convenient determination of whether newly added or modified resources would be of interest to a particular user.

The at least one decoder decodes selected ones of the plurality of elementary streams by decoding portions at the front end of the FIFO corresponding to the selected ones of the plurality of elementary streams and a newly selected one of the plurality of elementary streams by switching from decoding portions at the front end of a FIFO corresponding to one of the selected ones of the plurality of elementary streams to decoding portions at the front end of a FIFO corresponding to the newly selected one of the plurality of elementary streams.

The method can include arranging shared entities in a collaborative reasoning shared knowledge base into different models for different end users in different investigations, creating claims for the shared entities in the different models across the different investigations, subscribing the different end users for notification of changes to the claims and shared entities, and providing notice to the subscribed different end users responsive to detecting a change in a claim in one of the different models.
