Process For Making Silanol Stopped Oligomeric Materials

View page
US Patent:
6433204, Aug 13, 2002
Filed:
Jan 23, 2002
Appl. No.:
10/055199
Inventors:
Nancy E. Gosh - East Greenbush NY
John S. Razzano - Cohoes NY
Slawomir Rubinsztajn - Niskayuna NY
Assignee:
General Electric Company - Pittsfield MA
International Classification:
C07F 708
US Classification:
556450
Abstract:
A process for the production of linear silanol stopped siloxanes comprising: a) conducting a ring opening polymerization of a hexaorganocyclotrisiloxane having the formula: where R and R are independently selected from the group of one to forty carbon atom monovalent radicals, in a solvent comprising a mixture of water and a volatile polar aprotic organic solvent in the presence of catalytic amounts of a strong base; b) neutralizing the catalytic amount of the strong base with a partially neutralized salt of a polybasic acid wherein the pH ranges from about 6 to about 8; and c) washing with water.

Process For Producing Fluorosilicon Polymers

US Patent:
6492479, Dec 10, 2002
Filed:
Aug 22, 2001
Appl. No.:
09/935317
Inventors:
John S. Razzano - Cohoes NY
Nancy E. Gosh - East Greenbush NY
Assignee:
General Electric Company - Pittsfield MA
International Classification:
C08G 7708
US Classification:
528 14, 528 21, 528 42
Abstract:
The invention comprises a method for producing fluorosilicone oil by reacting a fluorosilicone trimer with a triorganosilanol in the presence of an alkali silanolate. The polymer may be condensed to increase viscosity and decrease the silanol content of the polymer, and volatiles may be removed by stripping. The method provides a high yield of fluorosilicone oil of narrow viscosity ranges in an efficient reaction, and produces small amounts of waste.

US Patent:
6232425, May 15, 2001
Filed:
Dec 31, 1998
Appl. No.:
9/224670
Inventors:
John S. Razzano - Cohoes NY
Nancy E. Gosh - East Greenbush NY
Assignee:
General Electric Company - Pittsfield MA
International Classification:
C08G 7708
C08G 7706
C08G 7724
US Classification:
528 23
Abstract:
A process for making organosilyl end-stopped diorganopolysiloxane fluid is provided comprising the steps of reacting an organic end-stopping compound with a fluorosilicone trimer in the presence of a catalytic amount of linear phosphonitrilic acid, and inactivating the linear phosphonitrilic acid, thereby forming organosilyl end-stopped diorganopolysiloxane fluid.
