Electrical Composite Element

View page
US Patent:
20100328832, Dec 30, 2010
Filed:
Jul 27, 2006
Appl. No.:
11/990064
Inventors:
Takashi Hasunuma - Narita, JP
Johnny Lam - San Mateo CA, US
Katsuaki Suzuki - Ryugasaki, JP
International Classification:
H02H 5/04
H02H 1/04
H02H 9/02
US Classification:
361 938
Abstract:
An electric device that functions either as a reverting (resettable) type element or a non-reverting (non-resettable) type element depending on the conditions. Such an element includes a polymer PTC element and a temperature fuse member connected in series thereto, the temperature fuse member placed such that it is under the thermal influence of the polymer PTC element. A melting point of a metal composing the temperature fuse member is at least 5 C. higher than a melting point of a polymer composing the polymer PTC element.

Circuit Protection Device

US Patent:
58567739, Jan 5, 1999
Filed:
Nov 4, 1996
Appl. No.:
8/743274
Inventors:
Daniel A. Chandler - Menlo Park CA
Johnny Lam - Fremont CA
Assignee:
Raychem Corporation - Menlo Park CA
International Classification:
H01C 710
US Classification:
338 22R
Abstract:
A PTC device suitable for attachment to a terminal of a battery. The device contains a PTC component which has a shape with an outer periphery and an inner periphery which defines a first opening in the center of the PTC component. The PTC component is made from a laminar PTC resistive element which is composed of a PTC conductive polymer composition, a first laminar electrode which is attached to a first face of the resistive element, and a second laminar electrode which is attached to a second opposite face of the resistive element. Also part of the device are a first conductive lead which has a first part which is attached to the first electrode, and a second part which extends into the first opening, and a second conductive lead. The second conductive lead has a first part which is attached to the second electrode, lies within the outer periphery of the PTC component in a plane, and defines a second opening which at least partially overlies the first opening, and a second part which is attached to the first part of the second lead, extends away from the inner periphery of the PTC component toward the opening, and can be bent out of the plane of the first part of the second lead away from the first conductive lead. When the second part of the second lead is bent out of the plane, it allows a welding instrument to be inserted into the opening created, thus allowing direct welding of the device to the terminal.

Automotive Network With Centralized Storage

View page
US Patent:
20210144207, May 13, 2021
Filed:
Nov 11, 2020
Appl. No.:
17/094844
Inventors:
- Singapore, SG
Johnny Lam - San Jose CA, US
Hubert Bailey - Georgetown TX, US
Noam Mizrahi - Modi'in, IL
International Classification:
H04L 29/08
Abstract:
An automotive data storage system disposed in a vehicle includes a packet network and at least one centralized storage device. The packet network includes multiple electronic subsystems that are configured to generate data during operation of the vehicle, the electronic subsystems being deployed at different locations in the vehicle and being indirectly coupled to one another via network links and one or more network switches. The centralized storage device is installed in the vehicle and coupled to the packet network, and is configured to receive from the electronic subsystems write commands for storing the data, over the packet network, in accordance with a network storage protocol, and to store the data in the centralized storage device.

Window Based Mapping

View page
US Patent:
20170235488, Aug 17, 2017
Filed:
Jan 20, 2017
Appl. No.:
15/411786
Inventors:
- Gyeonggi-do, KR
Frederick K.H. Lee - Mountain View CA, US
Johnny Lam - Firestone CO, US
Stephen Silva - Fort Collins CO, US
International Classification:
G06F 3/06
G06F 15/78
Abstract:
Window based mapping is used to reduce the usage of volatile memory for storing the mapping of logical to physical addresses for accesses to data in a flash drive. Two separate mapping tables for translation of logical addresses to physical addresses (L2P), e.g., an L2P front map and an L2P back map, are used where the L2P front map acts as a window to the L2P back map. The L2P front map has smaller granularity for data accesses than the L2P back map. The data accessed using the L2P front map can allow the flash drive to function with relatively same performance as a fully mapped drive with a single mapping table.
